A quick post today as it’s been a busy day with a ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island which filled the morning. We walked from the hotel to Battery Park which is located right at the end of Manhattan. The ferries leave every 15 minutes to take passengers to the Statue and Ellis Island, which was the immigration port for many immigrants in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Our ferry ride allowed passengers to get off at both locations but we opted to stay onboard as there’s not a lot to see on either island that interested us. We mainly wanted to see the Statue, which we did as the ferry approached and departed the wharf. It was slow drizzling rain but that didn’t stop us from being on the upper deck in order to see the views of the harbour, lower Manhattan, and of course the Statue.
One the way home we grabbed some gourmet sandwiches from Pret A Manger on Broadway and headed back to the hotel to do some washing, with Julie then doing some clothes shopping whilst I braved the subway system and took a train through the Bronx to visit Amazon Books. As a Prime member we get to buy books at Prime prices, even from their bookstore. With the washing and shopping done it’s now time to get ready for Christmas Eve dinner at Trinity Place Resturant and Bar which is located in an old bank vault about 300 meters from our hotel.
So for all our readers, it’s probably either Christmas where you are or not far from it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
